Your Results Depend on What You Do Next
Daily Activities
No Alcohol5 Days
It is recommended to abstain from alcohol for a minimum of 5 DAYS following your procedure. Alcohol has the potential to impact the proper healing of the wounds and may result in increased post-operative bleeding. Additionally, antibiotic treatment will be necessary after the operation.
No Sweating15 Days
Patients should refrain from excessive sweating post-op for 1 MONTH to safeguard the transplanted grafts. In hot climates, it is advised to limit outdoor activities for 2-3 weeks post transplant.
Avoid touching the newly-grafted scalp2 Weeks
For the next 2 WEEKS, refrain from touching the receiving area of your transplant. Touching the area may disturb the implanted grafts, potentially causing permanent displacement. The only exception is during your daily washes.
No Sauna1 Month
Avoid sauna, steam baths, and hot places to prevent excessive sweating. Stay away for 1 MONTH after hair transplant.
No Smoking1 Week
Nicotine hardens blood vessels and constricts them. This both hinders the recovery and impacts the new hair growth adversely. You must refrain from smoking at least 1 WEEK post-op.
No Intense Exercises1 Month
Avoid high-intensity physical activities that may result in excessive sweating or injuries for 1 MONTH. These activities include running, weightlifting, bodybuilding, football, basketball, volleyball. Gentle exercise like walking is permissible after the 4 DAY post-op.
Avoid Sunlight2 Months
Following a hair transplant, it is crucial to avoid direct sunlight for 2 MONTHS. Excessive sun exposure can damage the scalp surface and impact deeper tissues, leading to serious harm and sunspots.
No swimming1 Month
It is recommended to refrain from swimming for 1 month following a hair transplant. This duration allows for proper healing of the grafts and donor area, minimizing the risk of infection.
Back to work6 Days
A patient may resume work after5 DAYS post-op. However, individuals in physically demanding roles should delay their return, preferably 7-14 days.
Sexual Intercourse5 Days
Engaging in sexual activity can lead to perspiration or a rise in body temperature. It is recommended to refrain from sexual intercourse for a period of 5-7 days.
No hat/helmet1 Month
It is recommended to refrain from wearing helmets or hats for 1 month post hair transplant surgery to avoid damaging newly implanted hair grafts, which could result in hair loss.
No bending3 Days
Patients should avoid bending for 3 DAYS. By doing so you’ll protect your grafts from popping out or bleeding too much. This is also an important factor and something easy to avoid.
Careful while coughing/sneezing2 Weeks
While unlikely to damage a graft by coughing or sneezing, maintain an upright head position and avoid sudden movements post-op.
No scratching1 Month
Avoid scratching for one month to prevent removing grafts and scabs and delaying the healing process. Instead of using your nail, gently rub the area after one week.
